Horse decision wrong (John Baxter)

FOSP Note: the following letter appeared in the Comox Valley Record on Aug 25, 2009, in the Comox Valley Echo Sept 1, 2009, and in the Campbell River Mirror Sept 3, 2009.

The provincial government’s decision, without due process, to allow a private developer to open up horse trails in the Bedwell Valley sets a dangerous precedent for our provincial parks.

It seems that the Friends of the Liberal Government have it hands down over the Friends of Strathcona Park.

Over my dead body, if that’s what it takes.

Horses caused so much damage in Banff National Park that they were ultimately phased out. And that was in an environment that is semi-arid when compared to our coast rainforest!

It seems that the Campbell government’s true definition of PPP stands for Plunder, Profit and Privatization of the people’s resources.

Wake up, people!

Courtenay
